The Kitchen is the most used area in our home. This small space already holds so many memories of special celebrations and meals that I have cooked for my girls. It is a small space, shared with a dining room area, allowing one open room for easy conversations. This space holds many purposes, so I prefer a “clean” look with white paint and hints of color. I decided that I wanted to paint the cabinets white, even though I have previously painted them grey. It makes the room appear larger, even though I will always choose a small space over big any day. The white is bright, mood-boosting, and pretty.

My Father n Law and I ended up taking off all the fronts of the cabinets.
We painted them all Valspar Dove White from Lowe’s.
I had mentioned to the Lowe’s employee that the paint was for Kitchen cabinets, and they gave me a special finish that allows for stains to be easily cleaned from them.
I used a hand roller to paint and a paintbrush for the corners and edges of the cabinets.
I changed the hardware on the drawers. I also purchased them from Lowe’s. There are definitely some imperfections and was very difficult to get the faces of the cabinets back on since I have already painted them in the past. Therefore, I think these cabinets will only be workable for the next couple years, and then we will need to think of replacing them for new ones. Until then, this inexpensive DIY cost about $200 to do and makes the room look cleaner brighter.

A little bit of paint makes a huge difference in a space. I want to add more decorative pieces to this room, but I do like a clean slate with minimal counter items in a kitchen. Maybe some pretty vintage art or a beautiful bunch of cream roses.

I hope you are inspired to grab a can of paint and tackle a project in your home that you have been holding off.
